Do I need to be a UMN student, faculty, or staff member to register?

No, the general public is welcome too.

U-Spatial workshops are offered at minimal cost to the UMN community, and members of the general public are also welcome to register.

How much do workshops cost?

Minimal cost for the UMN community.

Workshops are priced to cover basic costs rather than turn a profit. Exact pricing is listed on each workshop's individual registration page.

I'm new to GIS. Where should I start?

Start with Web GIS: Introduction to ArcGIS Online.

Web GIS: Introduction to ArcGIS Online, along with ArcGIS StoryMaps: Visual Storytelling with Maps, is built for people with no prior GIS experience.

What if a workshop I want isn't currently scheduled?

Past workshops often return, and we take requests.

Many of our workshops rotate through the schedule rather than running continuously. Contact the Help Desk to ask about a specific topic or request a new one.

Can I access training materials without attending a live session?

Yes, most workshops post their materials afterward.

Workshop slides and materials are typically posted for anyone to download, whether or not you attended the live session.
