About Jane
Jane Lindelof brings a broad history as a science writer and editor across non-profit, private, and higher education sectors. A "humanities person," she has spent her career in the sciences, where she has used storytelling to tackle issues of climate change, renewable energy, and conservation.
This background, along with her experience in community engagement and organizing, led her to a position at U-Spatial, where she develops hazard mitigation plans that engage the public and protect Minnesota communities against the loss of life and property from natural disasters.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in English Literature with a minor in Creative Writing from the University of Wisconsin–River Falls and a Master's degree in English Literature from Clark University.

Hazard Mitigation Planning
Bringing together planners, emergency managers, and community members, hazard mitigation planning identifies risks and vulnerabilities, develops a plan of action built on capabilities and partnerships, breaks the cycle of disaster and reconstruction, and builds stronger and more resilient communities.

- Over 20 years of expertise translating complex scientific, environmental, and public health data into clear, accessible messaging for diverse public audiences and emergency managers.
- Managing and coordinating the delivery of interactive state, tribal, and county hazard mitigation plans across Minnesota, including specialized extreme heat profiles and weather safety visuals.
- Designing interactive web templates and public interfaces using platforms like ArcGIS StoryMaps, ArcGIS Hub, and Drupal to visually communicate complex population and environmental datasets.
- Advanced expertise in structural editing, proofreading, and layout design for high-level technical publications, case studies, and scientific materials.
- Overseeing U-Spatial's communications, graphic design, social media strategy, and collaborative public relations initiatives.
