Help Desk

The Help Desk is available to answer your GIS questions.  We can answer most GIS and spatial data questions; but if we can't answer your question, we know who on campus can and will get you connected with an expert.  Some common types of questions the Help Desk can answer are:

  • Assistance choosing a GIS tool
  • Using Esri ArcDesktop software
  • Using Quantum GIS software
  • Configuring GIS servers (Esri, MapServer, Geoserver, etc.)
  • Google Map mashups
  • Spatial data processing
  • Finding data
  • Finding an expert
  • Finding a lab or equipment

General Hours: Monday - Friday  9:00am - 5:00pm

Walk-in Hours (Without Appointment):

  • Monday's 12pm to 3pm(No hours on 8/31/2015)
  • Wednesday 11am to 2pm
  • Thursday 1pm to 4pm 
  • Help desk meetings can be arranged by appointment at uspatial@umn.edu.
